National Grid’s corporate brand wasn’t built to inspire the next generation — they needed to show they’re much more than hard hats and high vis. So with an ambitious target to reach net zero by 2050 and an energy crisis looming, they were looking for a bold employer brand to show what they could offer talent on both sides of the atlantic. Enter Wiser.
Our trans-Atlantic research uncovered that National Grid’s culture is quite literally Superpowered by its people, so our EVP was shaped around the ‘unsung heroes’ who make Grid such a special place to work. With their CEO starting out as a graduate himself, hiring from the ground up was a critical priority, so we shaped an Early Talent Value Proposition to sit alongside the EVP — bringing the narrative to life for the next generation. We also crafted a Digital Value Proposition to appeal specifically to digital talent, which we launched in a paid media campaign that saw some of our best CTR benchmarks to date (237% higher than the industry average). To tie the narratives together, we created a brand new visual identity and shared tone of voice, rolled out in a set of guidelines designed to superpower the employer brand.
